Adult Protective Services

 

Adult Protective Services provides direct intervention, remedial and case management services, and other types of support to dependent and elderly adults who are at risk or victims or abuse, neglect, exploitation or fiduciary abuse.

Services can include information and referral to community resources, protective services such as arranging for conservatorship and investigating mandatory reports of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation, and completing assessments relating to out-of-home care placements.  Persons served are those who are:

  • Unable to protect their own interests

  • Lacking in necessary food, shelter or clothing

  • Exploited of their income or resources

  • Harmed, threatened with harm or caused physical or mental injury as a result of action or inaction by another person or their own actions, due to ignorance, illiteracy, incompetence or poor health
