Our department is dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service, plan review, and inspection services to the building public with fairness, integrity, and professionalism.

Days of operation: 
The Plumas County Building Department is open to the public from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Closed County Holidays.

Inspection Schedule: Effective Monday, October 23, 2014

        North area of the County – Feather River Canyon,  Indian Valley, Lake Almanor Basin, Warner Valley, et al.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

      South & East areas of the County – Quincy, Bucks Lake, LaPorte, Graeagle, Portola, Sierra Valley, Lake Davis, Chilcoot, et al. 

        Tuesday and Thursday.

The below-listed inspections will be “inspected” by the use of photographs only, emailed to the department for approval.  See our website for more details explaining the inspection procedure. 

  1. Bond-beam for one- and two-story, “simple” CMU foundation systems

  2. Ice dam flashing.

  3. Sheetrock nailing.

Inspection requests must be received by no later than 3 PM of the working day prior to the requested inspection.

All Inspections are subject to change due to availability of personnel, weather, or unsafe road conditions.

Generally by 8:30 am of day of the inspection, the inspectors' estimated time of arrival is noted on the website inspection schedule. This is as estimated time only: road delays, vehicle mechanical problems, and other unanticipated issues can delay or accelerate the inspector's arrival

Drop Boxes available in Chester and Quincy
An after hours drop box for permit and plan submittal is conveniently located in front of the Chester Civic Complex and Quincy Building Department Office. The Chester Civic Complex drop box is picked up only on the days when an inspector is in the area and has been notified there is a submittal. To insure pickup at either drop box, please phone the Building Department.
