CIRCUS IMAGINATION

Circus Imagination, formerly the Traveling Backyard Circus, first appeared on the West Coast in the summer of 1986, touring extensively from Arizona to Washington, Utah to Hawaii.  The circus is back this  season under the new name, Circus Imagination.

The concept of expanding the imagination of children through learning and playing experience is so invaluable in the formative years while children are learning creative play.

Circus Imagination involves 20 to 25 children per show who actively dress up and join the circus.  We maintain that the children who join Circus Imagination  are the stars, not just props.

Circus Imagination does not end when the show is over.  Parents are delighted to find their children bring home the inspiration to put on their own circus in their own backyards.  Old-fashioned fun rekindles educational play in the minds of children.

Circus Imagination requires no skill or talent and the experience leaves children with a strong sense of imagination, resourcefulness and creativity.  Up to 25 children may participate.

Act III        Clarence The Clown

SUPER SCIENCE

Tammie Ryan has nearly 20 years experience in Science Fun.  Graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Portland State University, she took the informal education route and started teaching for a National Science Museum.  These opportunities lead her to years of travel and science fun.

After 9 years with the museum she took a break and taught Middle School science for a year in the small rural town of Prineville, Oregon to experience the structured side of science education.  But back to the museum she went to have more fun!  Planning, scheduling, marketing, teaching  and writing curriculum...Tammie took science to the road once again to schools and fairs.  Helping to build one of the most successful Outreach Departments in the nation.  With this experience she now brings you her own Fun with Physics exhibit.

Fun with Physics is a family adventure.  Tammie's husband, Sean, designed and built the exhibit structure.  Tammie researched the activities.  The kids - age 16 and age 6, tested the activities for durability, accurateness and "fun factor".   Thanks to  many hours from friends and family as sounding boards, babysitters, and much more! Fun with Physics was born.

THE ORIGINALS

A band of 7 musicians with 6 vocals that give us that "good time" rock and roll sound. We bring back the harmonies, the doo wop, the girl groups, the good times and the music that makes your feet want to move from the 1950's and 60's. We appeal to every age group. We play the songs that everyone knows. We love what we do and it shows. We will make your group, party or event, the one that everyone talks about for weeks, months and years to come.

TERRELL & TAKAKO

The Plumas-Sierra County Fair once again welcomes the popular husband and wife variety team or Terrell and Takako to the free grounds act lineup.

This duo not only juggles, they perform magic acts, mimes, and perform on unicycles, and they are also known to capture their audiences' attention with their accomplishments at folding paper into a wide variety of shapes and designs.

Equally adept as stage, street or strolling entertainers, Terrell and Takako have performed before audiences in Canada, Japan, throughout the United States and particularly in California.  In fact, they're so popular with Plumas and Sierra county residents and visitors to the fair in previous years that they're more then willing to perform once again.  While in Japan, they performed more than 5,000 shows at the Huis Ten Bosch, a European resort in the southern part of the country.

For their material, Terrell and Takako can draw from more than 20 routines that involve a variety of props.

Terrell's career highlights include performing as the Tokyo Disneyland's first juggler, mime and clown.  He taught at the famous Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College.  And he's studied mime with legendary French mime Marcel Marceau.

Takako was the featured subject of a 1991 Japanese television documentary chronicling her juggling debut in the United States and Japan.  She has also taught paper folding in Canada and the United States.

Check the events calendar to see when Terrell and Takako are scheduled to appear each day at the fair.

KARRY A TUNE KARAOKE & DJ

Hi my name is Patty Miller; I have been singing most of my life and in front of people for the past 10 years. I have sung at Weddings and events of all kinds I even have had to do it A cappella. I love to sing so much I was going to Karaoke wherever I could find it. I went to Karaoke so often and loved it so much I would travel many miles to do it whereever it was, including out of state or even go sick, I just had to sing.  When everybody kept telling me how good I was, I finally decided to start my own Karaoke business and called it  Karry A Tune Karaoke & DJ. I had no training in small business, but my husband did, so we made it work.  I did the leg work and he did the paper work. I have been in the karaoke business now for over 5 years and it has been a very successful business and I do mean business. Almost half of what I make goes to taxes (I’m not complaining) and people don’t realize that when I quote them a price I only take home a little over half and most of that goes back into the business buying equipment, CDs, paying for gas and many other expenses that people don’t realize I have.  You really have to be good to make a legal small business survive. It was not easy starting from scratch, all my music is on CD's and all my books (selections of songs) were made from scratch at home. I have over 5,000 karaoke songs. I try to have songs for all ages.  People love to sing and I love to watch people have fun.  Getting paid for what you love to do is what it's all about. The Costa Ricans have a saying for it "puda vida", meaning pure life. My father made a living in the music business and I wish I could make a living at it too, but for now I also have to put in five 8's a week on my day job.

So if you want to come and sing your heart out, I will see you at the fair. Everybody needs at least fifteen minutes of fame. It’s also a good stress reliever. See you there!  Patty
