The Elections Division of the Clerk-Recorder Department conducts all federal, state and local elections within the county. The division maintains a database of nearly 12,000 registered voters. Candidate and
Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) filings also take place here. Official ballot preparation as well as precinct maintenance are handled in this division.

VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT INFORMATION:
Vote By Mail Ballots are mailed approximately 29 days prior to Election Day. Voted ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the Elections Division within 3 days of Election Day to be counted.
If you have not received your Vote By Mail ballot within 14 days prior to Election Day, call the Elections Division at 530-283-6256 or 1-844-676-VOTE.
To check the status of your returned Vote By Mail ballot to make sure it has been received at the Elections Division, call 530-283-6256 or 283-6129 or 1-844-676-VOTE.
REMEMBER TO MAIL YOUR BALLOT EARLY TO HAVE IT INCLUDED IN THE INITIAL COUNT. BALLOTS RECEIVED ON ELECTION DAY DELAY THE FINAL RESULTS. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN TIMELY RESULTS FOR LOCAL RACES.
